The final tour for the season of the Quincy Smelter is this Saturday. The Quincy Smelter is the last intact historical copper smelter in the United States.
Standing in the middle of the site on the Portage Canal, you can look up the slopes of Houghton and Hancock at the peak of the fall color season.
Tours will start on the hour from 11am to 3pm and will take place even if it rains since a good part of the tour is conducted inside the buildings. Participants are asked to wear closed shoes for their own protection since this is a former industrial site.
Directions: Coming in on Hwy 41, go over the bridge, turn right onto M-26, go a quarter mile and turn right at our signs.
