Feeding America Food Distribution Will Continue

We’ve received more information about the future of the Feeding America West Michigan Mobile Food Pantry visits to the Copper Country.

Molly Kooi from Feeding America West Michigan tells us that the local Community Action Agency and the Western U.P. Food Bank informed them that they did not wish to host further Mobile Food Pantries with Feeding America, as Feeding America could not provide pre-boxed food.

The Community Action Agency instructed them not to send a truck to yesterday’s distribution in Houghton, or next week’s scheduled distribution in L’Anse. The Community Action Agency provided food for yesterday’s event, and will stock next Thursday’s event at Meadowbrook Arena, as well.

Feeding America West Michigan will continue to bring food to the region, in partnership with the Portage Health Foundation. The October 29th event at the Ontonagon Village Fire Hall will take place as scheduled. Future visits have been set for November 5th at Finlandia University, and November 12th at the Baraga School.
