Fatal Accident Between Vehicle & Pedestrian In Marquette

One man is dead after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning in Marquette County.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to the accident on US-41 near Brickyard Road at approximately 5:50 a.m.  Upon arrival it was determined that the accident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

A 51 year old shpeming man was driving a Chevrolet pickup when he struck a 36 year old Skandia man.  The pedestrian was severely injured and succumbed to the injuries at the scene.

US-41 was closed in both directions until approximately 9:00 a.m. as troopers investigated the incident.  The names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending family notification and further investigation.

Troopers were assisted in their investigation by Marquette Police Department, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette Twp. Fire, and UP Health Systems- Marquette.
