Family Sets Up Go Fund Me Account For Two Children Injured In Crash

A three-vehicle accident Wednesday night in L’Anse Township sent three people, including two children, to the hospital.

According to the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on US-41 near Canyon Falls.

A northbound vehicle driven by 32-year-old Ryan Thomas of Marquette, collided head-on with a southbound vehicle driven by 55-year-old James Tricka of Bessemer.

Tricka’s vehicle was then struck by a northbound semi-truck, driven by 39-year-old Brad Trudell of Calumet.

Two young girls, ages 5 and 7, were passengers in Thomas’s vehicle.

They were transported to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment.

The youngest (Skarlett) has spinal and intestinal injuries and was airlifted down state for further treatment.

The older of the two (Peyton) has a severe spinal cord injury and is paralyzed from the neck down.

Thomas was extricated from his vehicle by the Jaws of Life.

He was transported to Baraga County Memorial Hospital and later to UP Health System – Marquette.

Tricka and a passenger in his vehicle sought their own medical treatment.

Trudell was uninjured in the crash.

Whiteout conditions were reported at the time of the accident, which at this time remains under investigation.
