F-16 Crashes in U.P.

The search continues for the pilot of an F-16 fighter jet that crashed in the southern Upper Peninsula last night.

Officials report the Wisconsin Air National Guard jet went down around 8:00 while on a routine training mission.

The rescue effort is focusing on a wooded area just north of the Garden Peninsula.

A post early this morning on the 115th Fighter Wing Facebook Page said the status of the pilot is not known, nor is the cause of the crash.

The 115th Fighter Wing is based out of Madison.
