Election Produces No Change on KBIC Council

There will be no change in the membership of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Council next year.

Unofficial results from Saturday’s election were released this morning.

In the Baraga District, incumbent Doreen Blaker was the top finisher, with 270 votes. Incumbent R.D. Curtis was returned to office with 174 votes. Challenger Suzie Elmblad finished a close third, with 160 votes. Larry Denomie, III placed fourth, with 99 votes.

In the L’Anse District, incumbents Randall Haataja and Toni J. Minton ran unopposed.

Results will remain unofficial until the vote is ratified by the Tribal Council.
