It’s decision day for two local bond proposals.
Voters will be heading to the polls in the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area School District and the Village of Calumet.
The $4.6 million bond proposal for the DB-TC schools would allow the district to remodel, furnish, build additions, and equip the 105-year-old school with security upgrades, update the boiler system, provide a new gym roof and parking lot, as well as new classrooms, gym, preschool, bathrooms, and kitchen.
If approved, the project would result in an increase of 3.5 mils for local citizens.
The last bond issue for election in Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools was in 1997.
The Village of Calumet is asking residents to approve a Capital Improvement Bond Proposal in the amount of $500,000.
The funds would be used to pay for snow removal and street maintenance equipment, as well as a new public works garage.
The 30-year bond would be paid off from the general funds of the village.
