Eilola to Lead Baraga County Commission

Veteran Gale Eilola will take over as chair of the Baraga County Board of Commissioners.

Eilola was voted into the top spot at last night’s meeting. Returning commissioner Brad Dakota was elected vice-chair. Eilola and Dakota are the only two holdovers from the previous board. Craig Kent and Chad Cichosz attended their first meeting, representing districts three and five. Bill Menge rejoined the board after a two-year absence, again representing district four.

While resuming service on the county board, Menge announced that he was resigning from the Baraga County Memorial Hospital board. He commended the hospital’s staff for their hard work and dedication to the community.

Sue Wilson was appointed to the Department of Health and Human Services board.

Work is expected to begin soon to redecorate the circuit court room. Replacement of aging wallpaper and other updates will be partly covered by insurance.
