Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy will be hosting a webinar aimed at helping the public follow the Line 5 tunnel application permit process and you’re invited to join the presentation.
Canadian Oil Company Enbridge has proposed building a new tunnel and pipeline system under the Straits of Mackinac, to carry crude oil and natural gas, but the state has concerns, and both are locked in several legal battles in the courts.
EGLE staff will provide an overview of the permit process including an outline for the upcoming public comment period, and a timeline of the project.
EGLE staff will also take questions from the public, but they want to make clear, this webinar is not part of the public comment period, which will be at a later date.
Teresa Seidel, Director of EGLE’s Water Resources Division, said “This is a complicated permitting process for a high-profile project and the aim is to be as transparent as possible about the process.”
