Winds in excess of 60 miles an hour were reported and some parts saw more than two inches of rain.

UPPCO says they have had about 20 line crews working in the field since yesterday morning and continued through the night.

Many are still working as the remaining fallen trees are being removed and the power lines repaired.

UPPCO reported 1,700 customers without power as of 10pm last night in Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga and Ontonagon Counties.

Three American Transmission Company lines were impacted by the storm.

While work progressed in restoring the ATC lines, UPPCO brought online its Portage Combustion Turbine that helped provide about 12 megawatts of critical power to most of Houghton and some areas of Houghton County for more than five hours.

UPPCO’s Gladstone Combustion Turbine was also called on to provider power to the regional grid.
