Taxpayers should start checking their bank accounts to see if their COVID-19 economic impact check has been deposited.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stated the Department of Treasury is ahead of schedule, in terms of getting the money out to taxpayers, and that close to 80 million Americans should have their money today.
The IRS is also offering a link on their website, which will allow you to see when your economic impact check is coming, if you don’t have it within the next two weeks.
If you filed 2018 or 2019 taxes, the IRS will direct deposit your money.
They are using direct deposit as much as possible, to avoid human to human contact, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The IRS would like taxpayers to be on the lookout for potential scammers.
The IRS will not call you to make sure you received your money, nor will they ask for account information.
