Drug Take Back Day Is Saturday

Bring your unwanted prescription drugs to any of several law enforcement agencies participating in the Drug Take Back Event going on Saturday.

Studies show that the majority of misused and abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including someone else’s medication being stolen from the home medicine cabinet.

In addition, the usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.

From 10am to 2pm tomorrow, you can drop off expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs at the sheriff’s offices in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties, as well as the Michigan State Police Post in Calumet, or any other participating agency.

Only pills or patches can be accepted–no liquids, needles or sharps.

The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
