DNR Summer Forest Clean Up Challenge Reaches Halfway Point

Volunteers for the DNR’s Summer Forest Clean Up Challenge have collected some crazy things out of Michigan’s forests in it’s nearly 30 year history.

Refrigerators, old tires and even a body cast, have been a few things they’ve cleaned up.

Recently, they passed the halfway point of their 100 forest site clean up goal.

They plan on cleaning up 100 forest sites in 100 days.

The group works year round to try and keep state forests clean, but this year, they started on June 15th, and will go through September 22nd.

This is to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the National Association of State Foresters to highlight the work they do to keep forests trash free, so they can flourish for future generations.
