DNR Seeks Input on Parks and Rec Plan

The clock is ticking on your opportunity to help shape the future of Michigan’s state parks and recreation areas.

The Department of Natural Resources is finalizing its draft Parks and Recreation Division Strategic Plan for 2023-2027.

The DNR Parks and Recreation Division currently manages 103 state parks and recreation areas, totaling more than 300,000 acres across Michigan’s Upper and Lower peninsulas. It also oversees the state’s boating program, the state motorized and non motorized trails system and 140 state forest campgrounds.

Comments from the public must be submitted by Friday. The completed plan is expected to take effect this spring.
