The City of Houghton is one of 22 communities that will share in $1.4 million worth of passport grants from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
These funds help communities complete critical outdoor recreation facility renovations and improvements.
$75,000 will go toward renovations of the restroom and shower facilities at Dee Stadium to meet ADA compliance and for the purchase of two hockey sleds.
Administered by the DNR, Recreation Passport grant funding is derived from sales of the Recreation Passport, the $11 annual pass that gives residents vehicle entry at state parks and recreation areas and boating access sites.
