Michigan’s DNR and the Michigan National Guard’s 1432nd Engineering Company, have teamed up to perform maintenance and upgrades to the infrastructure of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Ontonagon County, through June 10th.
The Army National Guard’s Innovative Readiness Training, combines military skills and community resources, which produces mission ready forces, along with savings to communities.
The DNR is providing raw materials, a project scope and limited equipment.
The 1432nd Engineer Company provides the manpower and equipment.
Projects to be completed include repairing roadways, armoring an eroding shoreline, updating buildings, and the replacement of a 100-foot culvert.
In line with COVID-19 safety measures, both organizations will be wearing masks and social distancing when possible.
