Although the 2018 Michigan Senate race is still several months away, Houghton County Democrats aren’t wasting anytime preparing for the upcoming election.
State Representative Scott Dianda gave his official endorsement over the weekend of Democratic candidate Ken Summers at a campaign fundraiser in Houghton. “I have endorsed Ken. Ken Summers running for the 110th district and he’s going to be the winner. He’s going to be a good man to represent us in Lansing, like I was,” said Dianda.
Dianda is one of 13 democrats in the senate, who will be ineligible for reelection due to term limits.
Summers, a native of L’Anse, has served in Baraga County as a member of the village council, Chamber of Commerce and as a school board member.
Summers said, “I’m proud to have Representative Dianda’s endorsement. And I guarantee that I’m going to go down to Lansing everyday and have the backs of the people of the Western U.P. And that starts with investing in people, and education, and health care and infrastructure. You build a house from its foundation and that’s how we should be building this country.”
The primary election is August 7th, with the general election to take place on November 6th.
