Dial Help Expands Safety Net Program

Dial Help has expanded their UP-wide Safety Net Program to include people seeking treatment or other services for Substance Use Disorder.

Funding for the program was provided in part by the Superior Health Foundation and the Walmart Foundation.

The goal of the program is to offer crisis support until individuals can be linked to professional services for critical and on-going care.

The program also works with those dealing with suicide risk, suicide bereavement, and complex crisis.

“Our Safety Net Program provides follow-up contact, which means that when people sign up, we reach out to them on an on-going basis to offer support,” said Rebecca Crane, Dial Help Executive Director. “The most important aspect of the program is linking people to resources that will help them address their core crisis issues, so that they’re able to make real progress toward well-being moving forward.”

Follow-up is offered by phone call or text message, depending on individual preference.

The expanded Substance Use Disorder services include specialized safety planning to address addiction issues, intensive pre-treatment support, and 120 days of follow up after treatment to assist with rebuilding the client’s life to strengthen sobriety.

A variety of community partners currently refer to this program, and people can also enroll directly by contacting Dial Help at 482-HELP (906-482-4357).
