Department Of State Kicks Off Democracy MVP Varsity Challenge

Michigan’s Department of State has launched the Democracy MVP Varsity Challenge, targeting high school varsity athletes to recruit election workers for the upcoming November 3rd election.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said “Democracy is a team sport, and we know our student athletes are up to the challenge.”

Any high school varsity team can register online, making a video challenging other varsity teams to sign up.

Teams will then recruit poll workers through Michigan.gov/Democracy MVP, where those who sign up, will input the team they were recruited by.

The team that has the most recruits by election day wins and will receive recognition from the Secretary Benson and Department of State.

Any team that recruits more than 50 poll workers will be entered into a drawing for Lions tickets.
