Delivery of Early Ballots to Houghton County Delayed

The delivery of absentee ballots to Houghton County for the November election has been delayed.

County Clerk Jennifer Kelly says ballots should arrive by the middle of next week.

At that time, city and township clerks will begin distributing them to those who have made requests.

Kelly also notes that many township offices remain closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Voters who wish to obtain absentee ballots may need to contact their township clerks directly to make arrangements to pick up their ballots.

Most cities and townships in Houghton County have set up drop boxes where completed ballots can be securely deposited. The exception is Duncan Township, where voters should contact clerk Kathleen Allen to make arrangements to turn their ballots in.
