Decision on New Hancock Zoning Ordinance Nears

Hancock’s city council will hold one more work session, before formally introducing the city’s new zoning and development ordinance.

At last night’s regular meeting, councilman John Haussler moved to table the rollout until the June 15th meeting. Kurt Rickard cast the only “nay” vote. The work session will be held June 13th, to consider any last minute amendments or changes. A public hearing has been set for July 6th.

In other action, the council agreed to provide letters of support for the Hancock Housing Foundation and Portage Canal Ventures. Both groups are applying for Revitalization and Placemaking grants through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
