D.A. Glass America becomes OcuGlass LLC

OcuglassCalumet, MI – D.A. Glass America, Inc. has announced a change in ownership.  IIWS, Inc. has agreed in principle to acquire 100% of the company and has changed the name to OcuGlass, LLC effective immediately.  Current management will continue to operate the new company as the corporate structure moves forward under the new ownership.  No changes to upper level management are anticipated.

A company spokesman explained that the new name will more accurately reflect its overall product line as well as the evolving vision and standards of the company.  A company statement added “Our vision and standards have come into focus, as has our product line.  This new name and structure will better suit our company as we continue to progress.”

OcuGlass will continue to produce OcuMatte, its acid-etched glass product and has announced the launch of OcuWrite, its innovative writable surface acid-etched product.  The company has plans to unveil chemically etched glass for electronics and horticulture, as well as a high transmittance, low reflectance product, which is intended for solar panel and window manufacturers.

OcuGlass, LLC started in 2013 as D.A. Glass America, Inc. and has operated under that name until the recent change of ownership.  IIWS, Inc. was a minority shareholder and the managing partner in the business and has now acquired all of the shares and total ownership.

Based in the Houghton County Memorial Airport Industrial Park, the company will keep all of its business and production functions in the current facility, the only one of its kind here in the United States.  IIWS thanks the Copper Country for its patience and support in getting this company off of the ground and realizes that it has not grown at the expected rate.  There have been many challenges in starting a manufacturing company in the Copper Country.  Challenges have been presented by infrastructure, wastewater disposal, transportation into and out of the area, and the former partnership in Poland.  Fortunately, because we have great employees and a high level of determination, there is now growth in sales and production numbers.  IIWS, Inc will start the process to include investment partners to further enhance the company and help to reach future goals.

An IIWS spokesman stated, “With this change, all decisions will be under one roof and that will help us to better service our customers, control and promote our brands, and create more jobs in our community.”  To date, OcuGlass employs over 20 local employees at the Calumet facility.
