With the Houghton County Fair only six weeks away, there are concerns that the effects of last month’s flood may have an impact on this year’s festivities.
Houghton County Commissioner Tim Palosaari said the main event arena remains partially flooded.
The arena is where the fair holds the monster truck exhibition, races, and demolition derby.
Even though the water is going down, the arena continues to flood with each subsequent rain due to the changes in the trails and drainage system.
Palosaari said he will have a loader at the fairgrounds in the next couple of days to try and shore up the arena.
The Houghton County Fair is scheduled to take place August 23rd-26th.
