Calumet High School’s robotics team is back home after competing in the FIRST Robotics State Championship.
The defending champion Copperbots had their run halted in the qualifying round but put up a good fight.
Their robot was tasked with crossing obstacles and carrying and stacking cubes in mock cargo rockets and spaceships.
As part of the Blue Alliance, the Copperbot’s captured their first match 93-80, then dropped the next one 86-103 before claiming their second victory 86-84.
Needing another win to advance to the semifinals, the Coppperbots came up short losing the next two, 77-96 and 76-90.
The team will start again next year with a new robot.
