Copper Country Great Start Collaborative Begins Collecting Items to Support the KFRC’s Baby Closet

The first few months of parenthood can be difficult for a young family. That’s why the Copper Country Great Start Collaborative works to make diapers one less hassle for young parents. The Great Start Collaborative will start collecting diapers for the annual diaper drive supporting the Keweenaw Family Resource Center’s Baby Closet. Throughout the year parents of newborns receive unopened packages of diapers and baby wipes to support the healthy growth of children in the copper country.

“We provide diapers, wipes, and clothing to families that might be in need in our community. Last year we served 132 different families through the baby closet.” Iola Brubaker, Executive Director, Keweenaw Family Resource Center

Leadership does say that the need for diaper donations has grown over the past four years, and all sizes are gladly accepted, though the most common diaper sizes requested are sizes 5  6, and 7. Diaper drive Donation drop-off boxes are set up throughout the copper country. Copper Country Great Start Collaborative will collect items for the diaper drive throughout December.  Monetary donations for the diaper drive are also accepted.
