Work to finish up the new home of the L’Anse farmers market should begin soon. At last night’s meeting, the village council authorized a payment of $37,399.80 to Wuebben Construction for work completed last fall. Village Manager Bob LaFave said they were able to get most of the work on the shell done…
The market’s new home is being built on the former Meadowbrook Field. LaFave anticipates the facility will be ready in time for this summer’s opening.
A Siefert Street resident expressed disappointment about the recent installation of a new backup generator for the nearby sewage pumping station. She said the large structure destroyed the view and could bring down the value of homes in the area. Council members said they weren’t thrilled with the location, either, but the narrow strip of land between the intersection of Siefert and Bay Shore Drive afforded no other options.
