Congressional Hopeful to Visit Copper Country

One of the Democrats hoping to challenge U.S. Representative Jack Bergman in the 2020 election will be visiting the region this weekend.

Dana Ferguson will meet with voters Saturday afternoon at 5:00 at Syl’s Cafe in Ontonagon. He’ll be at the Fifth and Elm Coffee Shop in Houghton Sunday at Noon, and will stop at Slim’s Cafe in Mohawk Sunday afternoon at 2:00. He’ll also visit the Hilltop Restaurant in L’Anse Monday afternoon at 4:30.

Ferguson is a Negaunee native. He holds undergraduate and MPA degrees from Northern Michigan University, and has a professional background in carpentry and the carpenter’s union.

This will be his first campaign swing through the Western U.P. this time out. Ferguson also started runs for the First District seat in 2014 and 2018, but withdrew before the primary each time.

Linda O’Dell from Petoskey has also begun a campaign to win the Democratic nomination in the First Congressional District. Ryan Ruzziconi also filed paperwork to run, but hasn’t posted any web or social media content about a candidacy.
