Cone Withdraws From Race For Houghton County Prosecutor

The Republican candidate for Houghton County Prosecutor says he’s out.

Calumet’s Jim Cone posted on his Facebook page that he is withdrawing from the race.

Cone states that other opportunities arose that he says are better for his family and their well-being.

No other details were given in the statement, which can be read here.

Cone was running unopposed for the Republican nomination for the office.

That leaves Democrat Michael Makinen, the current county prosecutor, and Douglas Edwards of Lake Linden, running as an independent.

The primary is August 2nd.
