Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools will host a Memorial Concert in honor of former band teacher, Paula McKaig, in the DB-TC auditorium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th.
McKaig taught at DB-TC for 23 years and retired in 2015; she battled cancer for three years and passed on October 10, 2018.
McKaig leaves a legacy of lifelong impact on the community. All who knew Paula McKaig and all music lovers are encouraged to come and enjoy a wonderful program of top-quality music.
The concert will feature solo and small ensemble numbers by local professionals, and choral, high school band, and alumni band performances, including an original song by Paula McKaig herself and a jazz tune composed by Mike Irish for the DB-TC School Band.
There is no charge for admittance, though a suggested $5 free will donation will help create a music scholarship in Mrs. McKaig’s name.
Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools is a K-12 district of approximately 330 students, with a teaching staff of 21, recognized in recent years for academic excellence. Dollar Bay’s High School Band has been a point of pride in the community for decades.
