A new nighttime paving project is set to begin in Houghton after Labor Day.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says the $114,000 project will mill and resurface 0.3 miles of US-41 College Avenue from west of Pearl Street to west of Prospect Street.
MDOT says the work will be done at night and is expected to be completed in one or two nights, depending on the weather.
Working at night will minimize traffic congestion and delays for motorists, but the project will require nighttime lane closures under flag control.
The project will restore pavement condition for a smoother driving surface and increased safety, and will extend the lifespan of the roadway.
The work will take place September 7th and 8th.
