CLK Elementary Welcomes Therapy Dogs

Two more therapy dogs are being integrated into the CLK School District.

At last night’s meeting, elementary school principal Matthew Hampton introduced them to the Board of Education…

“Cal is a Maltipoo. Right now, he’s only two pounds, and he’ll grow o=up to be about six to eight pounds. Benny is a teddy bear.”

A “teddy bear” is a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Bichon Frise.

Hampton and his family drove to Houghton, Iowa, recently, to pick the dogs up. They have begun spending limited time at CLK Elementary, to allow them to become acclimated.

Benny and Cal join Bleau and Tucker, who are already on the job at Washington Middle School and the Horizons Alternative School.

In other news, the board voted to support the Junior Varsity hockey team by matching donations raised by players and supporters up to $2,500. Members also accepted the resignation of CLK Elementary School paraprofessional Dan Stahl.
