The COVID-19 numbers in our region continue to climb. Yesterday’s update from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department includes 142 more confirmed positives, 51 more probables, and four more deaths, since the previous update was posted late Thursday.
66 of the confirmed positives are in Houghton County. Baraga County had 26, and remains the hottest coronavirus area in the state. Gogebic County had 27 new confirmed positives. Ontonagon County recorded 14, and Keweenaw County had nine.
Three of the deaths were in Ontonagon County, and one was in Gogebic County.
Since the pandemic began, 2,090 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the five-county region. 1,324 recoveries have been confirmed, and 39 of our neighbors have died.
