Cliff Mine Revisted Presentation At Phoenix Church

Industrial archaeologist, historian and author Sean Gohman presents “The Cliff Mine Revisited” as part of the Keweenaw County Historical Society’s Adventures in History series.

The first (1974) edition of Donald Chaput’s The Cliff ended with the line, “The Cliff is dead.”

The updated (2015) edition of The Cliff acknowledges that while that death was certain, it was by no means sudden.

You’re invited to join Sean as he discusses the importance of the Cliff’s protracted decline within a larger context of Copper Country development in the twentieth century, and how the now abandoned site endures today as a living landscape.

The event will be held this evening at 7pm at the Phoenix Church.

Admission is $6.00 ($5.00 for Society members).
