The finances of the Copper Country Intermediate School District are in good condition. That’s the report from Debbie Bradford of Rukkila, Negro & Associates presented to the CCISD board at their regular meeting this week. Bradford also stated that the finance staff of the ISD were well prepared and had everything in order. No issues arose from the audit and Bradford gave the CCISD a clean bill of health.
Superintendent George Stockero introduced Kristina Penfold to the board. Penfold is the new Special Education Supervisor for Early Childhood. She was a special educator for the L’Anse Area Schools for 12 years before coming to the ISD two years ago as an Early Childhood Special Education Service Provider. She has also served as the Behavior Outreach/School Support Specialist and most recently as Special Education/Early Childhood Coordinator.
Superintendent Stockero informed the board of a generous donation from Mrs. Bonnie Jones in memory of her late husband Fred Jones. Fred had a hobby of working on cars and other things and had amassed a large quantity of tools. Mrs. Jones donated all the tools to the CCISD’s Auto Tech program. The estimated value of the donation was $5,000. The students of the program sent thank you letters to Mrs. Jones and the CCISD board intends to do the same.
