The Houghton City Council is recognizing the important role that WOLV played during the Father’s Day Flood.
The city council passed a resolution Wednesday congratulating 97.7 The Wolf on winning Station of the Year from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters at their awards ceremony on March 6th in Lansing.
Here is the language of the resolution:
WHEREAS, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters presented Station of the Year awards on March 6, 2019 at the Lansing Center, and
WHEREAS, WOLV-FM won a total of six “Best” awards and two “Merit” awards for 2018, and
WHEREAS, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters presented WOLV-FM with the 2018 Small Station of the Year Award for Best in Category for the Best Breaking News Story–Todd Van Dyke, “Father’s Day Flood”.
NOW THEREFORE, the Houghton City Council congratulates WOLV-FM for its award-winning coverage, recognizes WOLV-FM for its outstanding journalism, and thanks WOLV-FM for its dedicated service to the community.
The resolution passed unanimously.
Operations Manager Kevin Ericson represented Houghton Community Broadcasting at the city council meeting to receive the award.
