Church Fire In Calumet Catches House On Fire

A fire at a church in Calumet quickly spread to a nearby house over the weekend.

The Calumet Village Police Department says it was dispatched to an abandoned church structure fire on the 300 block of 7th Street around 12:30am Sunday.

The fire from the church caught a nearby house on fire.

Crews from the Calumet Village Fire Department, the Calumet Township Fire Department, the Laurium Village Fire Department, and the Ahmeek Fire Department responded to the scene.

All the occupants were evacuated from the residence.

One female had smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.

American Red Cross was contacted. The Calumet Village Police Department was assisted by the Houghton County Sheriffs Office, Laurium Village Police Department, Michigan State Police, Mercy Ambulance, Semco Gas Company, and Upper Peninsula Power Company.
