CHS Drama Club To Compete In State Theatre Festival

The Calumet High School Drama Club will once again be competing in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association State Theater Festival.

The competition is held February 17th and 18th at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center just outside of Lansing.

This year the students have decided to do a selection from The Great Gatsby which was their spring production four years ago.

The play will be performed locally and the public is invited and encouraged to attend one or both of the performances.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

These performances are a fundraiser to help cover travel expenses for the trip to the State Theatre Festival.

District: February 4th @ 2:00pm – Calumet High School Commons

Regional: Saturday, February 11, 2017 @ 2:00pm – Calumet Theatre

Ten students are headed down to the festival this time around.

They are staying for the entire weekend so they can see all of the great theatre and experience the whole festival.

They learned a lot last year, and now they want to take that knowledge and do even better this year.

Over $1000 is needed just to cover the hotel rooms, plus then all of the other expenses.
