One woman is in jail after law enforcement discovered a meth lab in Chassell.
On Wednesday, a deputy from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department and a parole officer from the Michigan Department of Corrections went to the residence to locate a woman that was on probation and had outstanding warrants.
When they searched the suspect’s residence, officers found components used to manufacture meth.
Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) were called to the scene and seized meth components (solvent, lithium, lye, sulfiric acid) as well as several meth “one pots”.
The suspect was lodged at the Houghton County Jail on outstanding fugitive warrants.
Additional charges for manufacturing meth are expected.
There was a 4 year old child in the residence that was turned over to Child Protective Services.
The Chassell Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
