Charity Hockey Game Helps Victims Of Crime & Fire

Tickets are still on sale for the annual Pigs N Heat Hockey Game, being held this Saturday night at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

Tickets are just $3 each or two for $5 and money raised will provide assistance to local residents who are victims of crime or fire.

Lt. Nick Roberts of the Houghton Police Department says the fund has been a big help this past year.  “2017 was a rough year for us. We actually spent close to $18,000 on events, which is not good. The fund’s there for that but that means there’s a lot of sad events that occurred,” Roberts said.

Your ticket not only gets you into the arena to see an entertaining hockey game…but each ticket is automatically entered into a drawing for several prizes.

Roberts said, “Our 1st Prize is a $1,000. Our 2nd Place Prize is $750. Third is $500 and we have other cash prizes from there. We’ll have a special raffle for a rifle and a shotgun also, which went over very well last year, and then many prizes from businesses from all over.”

Tickets are available at the Houghton Community Broadcasting office on Montezuma Avenue, the Houghton City Center, the Superior National Bank Branch in Hancock, and from any local firefighter or police officer.
