keweenaw-chamber-of-commerceThe Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce is still accepting nominations for board members for 2017.

Elections will be held at their annual meeting in December.

All nominations must be members of the chamber and business owners who are interested in helping to make a difference in the business community.

If you have the time and passion to commit to this volunteer board, please fill out the nomination form, which can be found on our website, and return to the Chamber office by Friday, October 28, 2016. Email: info@keweenaw.org, Fax 482.5241, Mail: PO Box 336 Houghton, MI 49931.

One of the duties of the board will be to determine how to address staffing needs.

Executive Director Cheryl Fahrner has already tendered her resignation effective at the end of the month.

In the Chamber’s most recent newsletter, it was announced that Administrative Assistant Trina Barrette was also leaving.

Barrette has taken a position at Northern Hardwoods.

The final day for both Fahrner and Barrette is this Friday.

While the Chamber is in transition, there will not be any dedicated office hours but the board will respond to emails and phone messages.

A decision by the board on staffing needs is expected in the coming weeks.
