Moms and moms-to-be are invited to an expo geared just for them and their young ones.
It’s called Celebrating Moms and Babies and is being held at the Copper Country Mall on Saturday, July 27th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, hosted by the Western UP Health Department and UP Health System—Portage.
Event co-organizer Casey Baird says there will be numerous resources available to help mothers care for their babies. “Realizing that there’s all kinds of resources and opportunities out there for moms, future moms, and pregnant women and they’re not really utilized or known as well so this was a great opportunity to get everybody together at once and let the community know exactly what we have available,” said Baird.
Multiple community resources and programs will be onsite to help answer questions and provide education. There will also be giveaways, kids’ activities, and more. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be provided
Breastfeeding awareness and education is also one of the highlights of the expo, as the Big Latch On event takes place next Saturday, August 3rd at 10:00am at the Jutila Center in Hancock.
Baird said, “It’s a global event to raise awareness to breastfeeding where everybody latches on or breastfeeds at the same time with everybody else in the world so it’s a very fun event to attend as well.”
The entire event is free and open to the public.
