Two projects recently completed by Career and Technical Education students at the Copper Country Intermediate School District have attracted attention from other parts of the country.
At this week’s CCISD board meeting, Superintendent George Stockero reported that schools in Colorado and Florida had contacted him about the tiny house project that building trades students had completed. An autism specialist from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota asked about the Core Board that was recently installed at the playground at Barkell Elementary School in Hancock. Stockero said all of the educators were hoping to replicate the projects in their districts.
Stockero also shared that a WI-FI hotspot has been established at the CCISD headquarters, and at the CTE Center. Both are being funded by the Portage Health Foundation, in an effort to make more service available for remote learning. The hotspots are active between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm each day. Anyone can log on, and personal usage is not tracked.
In other action at this week’s meeting, the CCISD board accepted the resignation of Mental Health Professional Michael Garrison, and hired Andrea Raasio as School Psychologist, and Natalie Morgan as Mental Health Services Coordinator.
