The Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education adopted its 2022-2023 budget at its monthly meeting Tuesday. The new fiscal year begins next month, and the board will hold its annual organizational meeting in July. Salaries for administrative and non-union office staff were also approved.
The board noted several staff departures, accepting the retirement of Susan Heinonen and Jason Erva, and the resignations of Cheyenne Kaufman and Tyler Kinnunen. They approved the hiring of Bridget Virchau as REMC1 secretary and conference center coordinator, Wyatt Gerner as a support technician, and Patrick Roth as a custodian.
The board also approved posting for several new positions, including an Early Childhood Specialist, a Pupil Accounting Auditor and Grants Coordinator, and a Math Consultant and Coach.
