Campioni Golf Outing Raises Money For Local Food Banks

Local food pantries will get a donation to help hungry people thanks to the 10th annual Campioni Classic Charity Golf Outing.

The event was held Wednesday at the Portage Lake Golf Course and Pat’s Foods co-owner Ben Campioni says they typically raise between $8,000 and $9,000 every year.

“We’ve got 34 teams with four people on them so it’s a big outing. It’s the biggest outing that Portage puts on every year,” said Campioni.  “We get a lot of attendance, a lot of people from Wisconsin, a lot of our local banks, a lot the local places get in the outing and it’s a fun day and we raise money for a good cause.”

Since its first year, the Campioni Classic Charity Golf Outing has raised over $75,000 for local food banks.

Campioni said, “The community has done so much for us and the food pantries are always in need and it gives them a boost. There’s a lot of need around here so we want to do our part to help the community.”

All of the money raised will help food banks in the Upper Peninsula.
