Cambensy Pushes to Restore Isolated Schools Funding

Action continues in the state House of Representatives to try to restore funding to some of the programs recently cut by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Democratic Representative Sara Cambensy has introduced legislation to bring back $7 million for rural schools. Most of that goes to five, tiny isolated districts. None of those are in the Keweenaw.

But, some of the money goes to other, spread-out districts… such as Ontonagon…

Ontonagon Superintendent Jim Bobula says that hurts a small district such as theirs…

He’s hoping the money will be restored.
