Calumet has selected a new village manager.
Jered Ottenwess has previously served as city manager for Ishpeming and Traverse City. He will succeed Amber Goodman, who recently resigned after a year on the job.
A letter offering the position will be sent to Ottenwess in the next few days. The headhunter who consulted during the search will assist in setting a proposed salary.
With that decision, the village has put plans to hire an administrative assistant on hold. An offer that had been made to a prospective employee will be withdrawn until the new manager comes on board.
In other action, the council agreed to reimburse village President Rob Tarvis for paying some out-of-pocket expenses during the village manager search, and renewing the village’s Zoom subscription.
A public hearing has been set for November 7 at 6 p.m. for a zoning variance request by Frozen Farms. The local grocer hopes to build a garage on 4th Street.
Fall Clean Up in the village starts Saturday, and will last until the end of the month.
