Michigan’s National Guard Post in Calumet, is among the best in the nation.
The 1431st Engineering Company has been named one of the Top Five Engineering Units in the U.S. Army National Guard.
The 1431st, has a long history, going back to the Spanish-American war and as recently as Afghanistan, and conflicts in between.
They’ve also served in non-combat operations in Latvia and helped clear roadways in Houghton, during the “Father’s Day Flood” back in 2018.
Soldiers of the 1431st are proficient in multiple military engineering duties such as breaching fortifications, demolitions, bridge building and airfield repair.
The unit, was ranked 24th, back in 2018, using the same metrics which put them in the top five this year, which makes the new ranking that much sweeter.
