Calumet High School Students Headed To State Welding Finals

A pair of Calumet High School students are being recognized for their performance at a welding competition.

Students Warren Torola and Alex Anderson competed with the best career and technical students from across the Upper Peninsula at the regional Skills/USA competition at Bay College in Escanaba on February 3rd.

Torola placed 2nd in the Overall Division and Anderson placed 2nd in the Shield Metal Arc Welding Division.

Both students now qualify to compete in the State Finals in Grand Rapids.

The CLK School Board congratulated them at their February meeting.

The board also recognized this year’s inductees into the National Honor Society and heard a presentation from Calumet High School Math Teacher Chris Woods on his involvement in the Michigan Department of Education’s “Proud Michigan Educator” Campaign.

Woods’s article, “That Moment When You Realize You’re Meant To Be A Teacher” and “STEM Everyday” podcast is posted on the Michigan Department of Education’s website to celebrate, acknowledge and elevate outstanding educators throughout the state.
