A home in Calumet was destroyed by a fire on Saturday, leaving a local couple in need.

According to a post on the First Baptist Church’s Facebook page, the home belonging to Ed and Donna Parsons is a total loss.

The fire started in the upstairs of the home Saturday evening and the Parsons were not harmed, but they lost all of their belongings.

The couple lived in the home off US-41 for over 40 years.  They are in immediate need of lodging, personal items and food.

First Baptist Church is coordinating with a neighbor to help with assisting the Parsons.  A Go Fund Me Page has been set up to collect donations.

The Parsons do not have any way to store food or donations at this time, but eventually many things will be needed including furniture and appliances.

Those wishing to donate items are asked to contact the First Baptist Church in Calumet, 26031 Depot St, (906) 337-3914, www.calumetfirst.org
