The NHL preseason game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Stanley Cup Champions St. Louis Blues will be played in the arena named Hockeyville USA for 2019.
The announcement was made Tuesday that the Calumet Colosseum has officially been chosen as the venue for the game, which is coming to the arena as part of the grand prize for winning the annual Kraft contest.
Before the site of the game could be announced, a decision needed to be reached between the NHL, Kraft, and local representatives whether or not the Colosseum could handle the game, professional players, media, and the enormous crowd that is certain to pack the arena.
Preparations are underway to get the Colosseum ready for the big event on Thursday, September 26th. Puck drops at 7pm and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports.
Tickets for the game will not be sold but instead distributed through a lottery system. Details on the lottery have not been announced.
Tickets will also be available for the morning skates and there is a strong desire to get youth hockey players into the rink.
